Trainer Mick Lakey is hopeful that Risk Aversion will put her best hoof forward when she runs in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes at Doomben Racecourse this Saturday May 25, 2013.
The five-year-old mare will have had two months between runs when she lines up for the 2013 Glenlogan Park Stakes, which was previously known as the Moreton Stakes.
Lakey is confident that Risk Aversion won’t be lacking fitness in the 2013 Glenlogan Park Stakes.
“I think she’s right up to the mark as far as her fitness goes and she’s a clean-winded mare who doesn’t take a lot of work to bring her to her top,” Lakey said.
Risk Aversion finished second by a nose in the Group 3 Millie Fox Stakes at Rosehill Gardens in early March, before placing ninth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic last start.
Since then the mare has partaken in a jump out at Doomben earlier in the month, which instilled further confidence in Lakey.
“She settled about fourth and was hitting the line really strongly and it was probably as good as any or her trials have been in the past,” he said.
The trainer will be hoping that the 2013 Glenlogan Park Stakes is not a pace-on affair.
“If it’s on-pace dominated that’s going to make it tough for her to win but she’ll be running on strongly if the breaks go her way,” Lakey said.
“The thing in her favour is the give in the track after the rain we’ve had this week.”
