18 runners have been included in nominations for Saturday’s Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben Racecourse, highlighted by the pending appearance of some of the Winter Carnival’s most exciting fillies and mares.
Srikandi won the Glenlogan Park Stakes in 2014 and will likely contest the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 over course and distance this weekend, but has also been included by trainer Ciaron Maher in nominations for the lighter option.
Posting seven wins and two minors through just ten career starts so far, Srikandi undoubtedly found career-best form to date through the 2014 Brisbane Winter Carnival; winning each of the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) and Listed Juanmo Stakes (1200m) leading into her Glenlogan Park Stakes triumph, and finishing a commendable third in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at the conclusion.
Returning this time for success in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m), the Dubawi mare stood in the gates in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) last time out and was unable to recover in finishing eighth.
Trainer Chris Waller is set to launch a two-pronged attack on the 2015 Juanmo Stakes after including both She’s Clean and Telepathic in nominations.
She’s Clean has won nine races and finished in the minors a further seven times in 34 career starts, and was a standout performer for Waller over a seven start spring and summer campaign, ending with a resounding four length win in the TAB Place Multi BM95 (1400m) in early January.
Having returned for a credible fifth in the Juanmo Stakes, She’s Clean looks set to be partnered by Hugh Bowman and will be difficult to beat if allocated an ideal barrier.
Beginning her racing career under the guidance of Dean and Donna Logan, Telepathic was unable to make much of a competitive impact on the 2014 Brisbane Winter Carnival, but has found good form since transferring to the care of Waller.
Placing fourth in the Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m) and third in the Group 3 Epona Stakes (1900m) on March 21st, the Mossman mare failed to beat a single runner home in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m0, but returned to competitive form in finishing fourth in the Last Post BM90 (1600m) on April 25th.
Four-year-old Solicit returned to racing for an impressive win in the Group 3 Darley Crown (1300m) on May 9th and looks likely to relish the conditions of the 2015 Glenlogan Park Stakes.
The 2015 Glenlogan Park Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
